The berries are so wonderful this time of year, very sweet after a long summer.
I baked some with figs soaked in amaretto and topped with marzipan.
After a few minutes in the oven they become even sweeter and the marzipan melts into the berries and amaretto and just creates pure delight.
3 cups mixed berries
6 figs, cut in half
1/2 cup amaretto
1/2 cup crumbled marzipan
1.Place the berries and figs in a bowl and add the amaretto.
2.Let the berries marinade 30 minutes.
3.Place berries and the juice in ovenproof ramekins and top with marzipan.
4.Bake at 380F, 180C for about 10 minutes, then turn on the grill so that you toast the marzipan.Make sure it doesn't burn.
5.Serve as is or with some smooth whipped cream.
