Glogg Cranberry Sauce


Its almostThanksgiving and every year I try to make a new variety of cranberry sauce.

This year Im combining my heritage with American heritage.

Glogg is a mulled wine we drink every holiday all around Scandinavia.

Its red wine with a dash of vodka steeped with spices and dried fruit.

Its really good and quite lethal.

It works really well with a cranberry sauce, the spices and the red wine with the sweet berries are perfect.

Makes 2 cups

1 shallot, finely chopped

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cups fresh cranberries

1 cup dried cranberries

1/2 cup raisins/sultanas 

1 cup red wine

1/2 cup orange juice 

2 cinnamon sticks

1 bay leaf

pinch of dried ginger

pinch of dried cloves

 

1.Place oil and shallots in a pot and sauté until onion goes soft.

2.Add the rest of the ingredients and let it simmer on low heat until almost all the liquid is gone.

3.Cool and remove bay leaf and cinnamon.

4.Keeps in the fridge for 1 week.
