This simple garland is a great project to add to your craft repertoire!



From Lova: "I made this heart garland in American colors for the Fourth of July. I started celbrating the 4th since I moved to the US, but it can also be used for Bastille Day or Syttende Mai(Norwegian Constitution Day) and probably many more countries that use these lovely colors red, white & blue in their flag. One good thing about living in the US is that I get to use red, white & blue, because I don’t think the Swedish colors, yellow and blue, would look half as pretty!"

 

All of my pretty papers are from my favorite paper store, The Paper Source.

 

You will need:

 

Beautiful Patterned Papers - I used a patriotic theme, but you can use the colors you like!

Plain white paper - you can use a roll of white paper or simple printer paper

Scissors

Paper Glue

Hot Glue 


1.Cut out a heart shape to use as your pattern for your garland. Mine is about 4 inches wide. You can find a lot of heart shapes on Google images. 2.Using paper glue, glue white paper onto the back of your patterned paper. This will make your patterned paper stronger and it will also make the back side of your garland have a consistent color. If you'd like you could use contrasting colors. 3.Using your heart pattern, cut out many paper hearts. You will want an even number of each pattern of paper. I usually cut out 40 or 50. 4.Fold each heart in half, with the pattern side out. 5.Use a hot glue gun to attach the middle of one folded paper heart to the middle of another heart with the same pattern. 6.Continue doing this with all of the hearts. 7.Now take your glued together sets of hearts and begin to hot glue them together to form your garland. You will glue the white sides together on the left and the right side. You can refer to the finished photo to understand exactly. TIP:

This garland can easily be compressed and packed away for another celebration!
