From Lova: "I love pillow boxes. So cool! Also they’re perfect for wrapping gifts with cumbersome shapes. I wanted to try out machine embroidery which I think makes a cool sketchy effect on paper, and I decided to draw some animals for my pillow boxes."

You will need:

Unassembled pillow boxes --  I got mine from Paper Source

Sewing machine

Tracing paper

  1. Draw your designs on a piece of tracing paper. The paper has to be thin or it won’t work.
  2. Place the tracing paper on one of the sides of the not yet assembled pillow box and start tracing your design by sewing with the sewing machine. Be extra careful when there are sharp turns.
  3. Peel off the sketch and assemble the pillow box.

It is hard to make lot of details with machine embroidery so keep your designs simple!  Also, you can find templates for pillow boxes online, google it!
