This project has three of my favorite components to it: 1. A Norwegian theme, 2. It's no-sew! Just use rubber bands and hot glue!, 3. It's an upcycling project, the main material comes from an old sweater!
Today’s post is presented by my friends at Minted, a design marketplace where you can find uniqueholiday cards andgifts designed by independent artists. Find your perfect holiday cardHERE.

A nisse is a mythological creature from Scandinavian folklore associated with the winter solstice and the Christmas season. It is generally described as being no taller than three feet, having a long white beard, and wearing a conical knit cap in a bright color. It is known as a gift bearer and is considered one of the Swedish and Norwegian versions of Santa Claus, although not quite the same thing. We just love a magical creature delivering presents!
You will need:
old sweater
scissors
rubber bands
rice or beans
piece of nude stocking
cotton balls or wool
piece of faux fur fabric
small jingle bell
- Start by cutting of the end piece of an arm, mine is about 12" long.
- Turn it inside out and secure a rubber band around the wider side of the arm.
- Turn right side out and fill with rice or beans up until 2" left.
- Secure with another rubber band.
- Cut the fur fabric into a triangle about 6" long.
- Put some cotton balls inside a panty hose to make a nose, secure with a rubber band and cut of any excess hose.
- Hot glue the beard and nose in place, just like the image.
- Cut a large long triangle of the sweater, mine was about 17" long.
- Fold up the edge and hot glue in place and hot glue the ends together to form a long cone.
- Hot glue the jungle bell at the end.
- Hot glue the hat in place and santa is ready to rock.
- I also hot glued a little "hair" under the hat, but you don't have to do that if you don't want to.
