I'm addicted to wooden beads. I just can't get enough of them! I think they are chic and understated and highlight the natural beauty of wood. You can make this bead star as a trivet or as an ornament. Once you start playing with the beads and wire I'm sure you're going to want to come up with your own creations as well!
This craft might seem a little daunting at first, but it's really quite simple. Watch this video where I walk you step-by-step through the process of making a trivet:
You will need:
50 wooden beads
thin metal wire
clippers
- Cut a piece of wire that 22".
- Thread on a bead, find the middle and secure the bead by twisting the wire two times.
- Add one more bead.
- Divide the wires and thread 3 on each side.
- Close the wires by twisting 2-3 times.
- Add one more bead.
- You are going to need 5 of these units total.
- Make a small bead ring with 5 beads and close it by twisting the wire a few times, cut off with your clippers.
- Now start with one of the arms, divide the wire and insert one in-between two beads, one into each side and pull so that the arm goes in close to the ring.
- Continue with all arms.
- Secure all the wires by twisting around the wreath and clipping them off.
- Now it's ready to use! If you need some added help, be sure to watch the how-to video, starring MOI!
