My friends at Traditional Medicinals asked me to incorporate three of their teas into my wellness routine for a three week period. Since the new year, I’ve been taking the time to focus on being more active. I spend time each day taking a brisk walk or doing simple core exercises in the gym. I’m also taking time to recharge each afternoon with a healthy snack and a cup of tea.

When I was a boy growing up in Norway, my Mormor would always tell me that focusing on the best quality ingredients was so important.  When I’d ask her to buy me packaged snacks at the grocery she’d tell me that it was so much better to make snacks homemade because you knew that you were using the best ingredients and you could also add your own LOVE, which was the most important part. I take that to heart to this day!

When I want to indulge in a treat, I always feel better about the decision when I know that I’ve made it myself with ingredients that I know and trust. Lately I’ve been enjoying my own homemade protein bars. I know exactly what all the ingredients are … and while they’re a treat, they’re not candy bars disguised as healthy snacks. My bars are packed full of almonds, honey for sweetness, protein powder for energy, and peanut butter. I pair that with my afternoon herbal tea of choice, which is Turmeric with Meadowsweet & Ginger.

Traditional Medicinals Turmeric with Meadowsweet & Gingerhelps me relax after a workout or a walk. The warming, earthy and savory flavor with a hint of spice is the perfect combination with my easy protein bars. My friends at Traditional Medicinals tell me that the tea supports a healthy response to inflammation associated with an active lifestyle.* So fabulous after exercising!
