Serves 4

You will need:
1 bottle dry red wine
2 cups cranberry juice
6 cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 orange, sliced
3 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon kirsch (cherry liqueur)
  1. Add all ingredients to a large pot, and let it sit for 1 hour before slowly heating the mixture.
  2. Do not allow the wine to boil; excessive heat will kill the alcohol.
  3. Once warm, strain to remove spices, and serve.
